Dominating in Season 5 PvP

People are call Season 5 of the Arena by many names. However, the Arena is really nothing more than Blizzard’s testing ground for PvP situations that it can’t test elsewhere. Blizzard is constantly changing and tweaking the Arena to balance classes and help competition.

Things to Expect

This time around, the Resilience in your gear has been turned down so that it won’t have an effect on your perfromance – at least not like before. You’ll need about 1200 Resilience at Level 80 to do any mitigating damage, but in Season 5 your gear will cap out at about 900. Season 5 is more damage and burst oriented than any season since Season 1.

Season 5 gear also has three different tiers. You’ll start to get your PvP gear when you run instances and getting Emblems of Heroism. You can use these, along with your honor points, to purchase pieces of gear that don’t require only Arena points. Blizzard has lowered the cap for high end PvP gear to 2050, so more people have access to it before they hit 2100 in the arena.

Dominating in Season 5 PvP

In order to destroy your competition in Season 5, what will it take? Currently, there are two classes that reign supreme – Retribution Paladins and Death Knights. The Retribution Paladins are good because they can take a lot of damage and then deal it back in bursts whilst healing themselves. Death Knights, on the other hand, are simply overpowered. If you run both of those classes with a Mage or a healer, you can expect serious results in PvP. Planning and balance are important to winning any fight, be it 5 or 3 man play, but make sure you deal a lot of burst damage and use a DPS team to win.

Blizzard will always be tweaking how PvP works in WoW. Make sure you are ready for their changes and keep practicing so you can succeed when Season 6 rolls out.
